Here's kinda an update on the project buggy I bought a few months ago. I rebuilt the whole dang engine and I tried to start it, but it has no compression! So... I thought I may not have lined up the camshaft. So my question is how do I line that up? And does anyone else have any idea why it doesn't have any compression?

Thanks y'all

1)Stick a long screw driver in the plug hole
2)Raise the piston by hand till the screw driver is all the way up.
3)put the cam in with the big hole pointing up, line in relation to the top of the head, and small holes side to side
4)Put on the chain

It's in time

Chuck- I've done that about three times. We've found someone at my church that's really good at fine tuning engines. He'll take it Saturday.

Josh, what happens when you try to line it up? Keep with it. You've done great so far and this is experience you will remember all your life. Well worth your effort.

Make sure you adjust your valves correctly. If you don't know how, ask!

Its easy Josh, bring the piston to top dead center than position the cam so that the large hole points strait forward and the two small holes or hash mark lines are lined up with the top of the head. Don't get too anxious. Some times you have to walk away from it. Many times you will not be right on perfect but it will be very close. Don't give up, prove to yourself that you can do it.If you still have problems give me a call and I'll walk you thru it. 662-301-1563

Again, it didn't work. I put the piston at top dead center and lined the cam shaft with the edge of the case, and it didn't work. Again.
