Good morning,

I believe my 150 may need some new shocks all around. Do any of you know what shocks I should buy? I'm 220 lbs.

Also, I noticed that the throttle cable is beginning to fray about a 1/2 from the pedal. Do I have to replace the whole assy. or just the cable itself?

I could sit here and ask questions all day , but I'll let these two go for now.

This is my first Kart, and I love it.

Thanks.

Also, there's something loose (the center baffel??) inside my muffler.

Can I just cut the end off, re-pack it, and weld it back together?

Thanks.

you can reweld a muffler but be careful foreign metals are usually thin/cheap

It is not uncommon that the muffler assembly is the first thing to go. Ours lasted a year. An entire new muffler/head pipe assembly is about $60 or so (+/-). Check with Tom at SYC Power sports. He can get American Sportworks parts at the best prices I have seen.

For the throttle cable, it is pretty easy to replace and it too is pretty cheap. Another common problem. Ours hasn't gone just yet.

The shocks are a tricky thing cause the stock ones are not very good, and the good shocks generally are very expensive. Many look for atv shocks to fit and I guess some will make an improvement, but atv shocks are not really compatable with these buggies due to the weight difference. If you do go that route you will most importantly have to match the length of the shock. Too long on the front and you put stress on the ball joints, too short and you lack on travel. I can tell you this for certain, when I called works to see about getting a set of shocks made up for my challenger this is what they needed 1) total travel of front upper and lower A frames as well as rear carrier,2) Distance between upper and lower a frames in their rested position 3) Total width of front and rear track, width of buggy, length of buggy and wheel base, 4)weight of total buggy as well as weight of each wheel. As far as the cable goes replace the whole thing I always keep extra cables for my buggies. You can weld the muffler but it won't last long, a replacement will last about as long as the origional, the metal used on this exhaust is recycled and gets brittle in no time. Thank you all very much.

I will call 10/21/10 and place an order. I'd like to order 2 throttle cables, and one new muffler. If you could PM me a total, that would be great.

The parts would be shipped to Boonsboro Maryland.

Thanks again.

The SAME exact thing came loose in my muffler, twice. The worst part was the first replacement did the same thing to me after just a month of running with it. I'm currently exchanging emails with ASW to see if I can get a free replacement on what must be a defected muffler. The original muffler's baffle plate came loose too after about three years of running.
