View Full Version : vaccuum operated petcock fuel valve

Hello, i thought i had a problem with my fuel so i took apart the vaccuum operated petcock fuel valve the one that runs from the tank to the carb to the crank, now i was wondering if there was any way i could bypass this or if anything i can use to replace it something that fits something else maybe? i live in maine and there arent anything for dealers here for carter talon, its a gy6 and i would like to get it back and running i just cant find parts could anyone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just get a non vaccuum petcock to replace the one you have & elimanate the vaccuum
line lots on dealers have or buy on ebay

Try a scooter or motorcycle shop.Bring the old one in and see if they can match it with a manual one

Scooter shops will typically have those vaccuum operated ones and they are usually pretty cheap too. If you want to go to a manual one, check with tom at sycpowersports.com (click banner at top of this page) and he probably can get it if he doesn't already have one in stock.

ok i fixed the petcock and replaced the solanoid, im waiting for my ignition to come in, but i jumped the wires and hotwired it, i have done this before with no problem, it wouldnt start, i know i have all the wires right so im thinking theres another problem, when it last ran it ran fine then just died wouldnt start, i checked the spark and i have no spark, im not sure what or how i can diagnose the problem with the spark where do i start?

i got it to spark and i can get it to fire when i put either in the cylynder but now it dosnt seem to b getting any gas, i think its a 96 but am not quit sure, i know its a gy6 150 any help would b great, i want to get this going before next weekend for my daughter

Open the bowl drain to see if you are getting fuel in the carb. If it had set up fpr a period of time the carb gould be pluged or seat could be stuck shut. Also I don't know which petcock you went with, if the vacume type make sure your lines are correct by removing the fuel line from carb then cranking engine to make sure fuel pumps out .
