need help to identify this yardkart

trying to get specs on this jewel so I can decide to go with smaller wheels ,in the rear change gearing , with a old school clutch , leave the 18" tires +old school clutch
or put a 30 series comet on it ,
basically for thrashing on a flat grassy open field .
its a big yard kart like a dingo , frames been cut , no shocks

Seems to me we had something like that but I can't remember who made it. I'd leave the wheels and tires on it as it sits and run it with a standard clutch and see how it does. Those things will beat you to death in a field. My son and I built one from scratch. Took one lap around the field and took it back apart. That's how we got into mini buggies. You couldn't beat the suspension on the mini buggies.

I agree with the suspension , I have a smaller one that has such a better weight to power ratio , than my 2 yerfs (with shocks ) wanted another small fast one to tear it up thinking of super cushony seat maybe springs on the seat!
oh yea this one has 18" rear tires, 10tooth clutch,54 rearsprocket , and I saw threads about no more than 15" tires on centrifugal clutch unless with a jack shaft ,
Im definately not shy and will try it , but I had a mini bike with 5.5 to 1 ratio and clutch got hot , when I went to 6 to 1 ran perfect .
crazy mechanics . I dont think theres a cent clutch 8 or 9 tooth 3/4 bore is there?that would go good with my 54 tooth , you think?

Looks like a streaker.Granted it'll beat you to death on rough terrain- but on smooth flat grassy field like you describe it'll be the best fun you have doing donuts and drifting.Small bumps mean lots of air!!!Those tires will do just fine with a friction clutch.Are using a 8hp or bigger motor?

it came with the dreaded tecumseh 6.5 , and a I have one I took of my old yerf as a backup or parts , I figure Id run it to its limits ,blow it up see how it does , then put a slightly moded clone it down the road .
I figure such low weight should have good weight to power ratio ,
just getting the gearing right with the least amount of work and $ is my goal.
10 tooth front ,54 rear and 18" tires seems like it might over heat the clutch .and I dont see 9teeth clutches readily avail , and the 60 teeth sprockets look like a bear to install , remove the whole axle ( any links on how to do that)?

You have plenty of room in front of that engine for a jackshaft. I'd run a 10 tooth clutch to a 18 or 20 tooth jackshaft input sprocket then a 10 tooth jackshaft output sprocket to the 54 tooth axle sprocket. Your ratio will be around 10:1.

It will run around 20 mph with the governor.....25 mph or slightly higher if you remove the governor.

I'm using a jackshaft on my 5yr old daughters first cart and gearing it at 18:1.....this thing is going to crawl! I can change the gears as her driving skills improve. A cart with a tav-2 and a 9/54 gearing combo starts out at 18:1. It works well with 20" rear tires.

the clutch got hot as hell , like I thought it would .
was trying to avoid buying a tav2 because of costs , the jackshaft is good idea .
im trying to figure if the 60 tooth rear would be enough . but im really doubting those 18 tires.
72 tooth prob be to low to the ground , but I want the lowest ratio 6 to 1 or 7 to 1 ish.
gotta go at least 30mph !

I had fun trying to mount 16x6x7 yerf front rims on the rear of this one , and putting this carts rears on the front of my yerf 40000 , failed attempt , the hub holes didnt line up right . but it looked good would have lowered the rear tire height 2 " .

The thing is that with a jackshaft, you dont need an axle gear any bigger than 60t. Whatever your clutch tooth count is...say 10....link that to a 20t on the jackshaft to double your axle ratio....say 10/60....600 x 2 = 12:1..

If you want 7:1....you could do a 10t clutch linked to a 14t jackshaft sprocket then a 12t jackshaft sprocket linked to the 60t axle sprocket.....that will be 7:1.

A 7:1 ratio will get you real close to 30 mph with 18" tires....slightly over 30 mph without a governor.
