Question about streaker kart.

I bought a streaker one seater kart frame at a yard sale with no motor. I bring it home and go to put my 5 hp B&S on it and the end of the shaft is about a half inch from the rear tire, and i still would need to put clutch bolt in. Are 3.5 B&S motors smaller width ways or do I need a Tecumseh? Thanks for any help!! Pat

Don't think there's that much difference in width if any from 6.5 down to 3.5. Bolt pattern on Tec and Briggs are very similar so that probably won't correct the issue.Can you post pics?
