I just bought a new Carbide from Tractor supply a few days ago, and i have only gotten it to run for about 5 seconds one time. The problem with it is the carb. If you take the air filter off so you can see inside the carb, and fill it with gas, you can watch the gas drip out of the carb and onto the concrete floor. Does anyone have any ideas if I can fix this myself, or do I need a whole new carb? Please help

I would clean the carb real good! Look for burrs or impurities in the passages(have been told AMS machines have the worst carbs)Also check the intake manifold they sometimes crack from being stored outside and the extra air intake will seem like carb problems.

sounds like the float needle is stuck. remove the carb and fuel bowl, move the float up and down to make sure the needle moves freely

Like bige said, you should check the float.

But before you do, where is the gas coming out of the carb from? The bottom? The air intake opening?

If it's coming out the bottom (or a drain tube), you need to tighten the bowl drain screw. If all that looks good, then take the bowl off (make sure the gas supply is shut off!) and check that the float moves freely and is not stuck in the down position.

Good question Mike, where is the gas coming from?

Well, the kart didn't have a warranty on it because it had been returned. I had a few guys who know a little more about these kinds of engines than I do come over and look at it, and they said some of the fuel lines were mixed up. We fixed that and got it running for a few minutes ,but this time it was leaking a gas/oil mix. I got tired of messing around with it, so I just took it back to Tractor Supply and bought a brand new one that is still in the create. Should have it assembled by tomorrow.

dude if u had gas and oil coming out, u had to have been running a fuel line to the vacuum line. that happened in mine. we changed the oil three times before finding the problem.

Nope. We had all of the fuel lines and vacuum lines correctly hooked up. It wasn't leaking out of the carb this time. One of my neighbors narrowed it down to a messed up gasket in the engine somewhere, but he told me that after I bought the new one. Then, a few weeks after we returned it, TSC had a sticker on it that said "Engine replaced, still doesn't run, still leaks oil". I think it sold for $800 or $900.

well my carter leaked blew oil out the filter seal and had gas in oil. it also didnt run well. it was a combo of overfilled oil, messed up carb (found the prob), and switched vacuum and gas line.

because it was returned, there was no return warrenty on it, but my dad was able to talk some schmuck at the store into give us a 2 week return on it, so we didnt have that much time to fix it
