I have a Carbide. Its about 4 months old bought it brand new.It was slow out of the crate. But thanks to the help of this site I was able to make a fairly pepe buggy.I was out riding in the creek the other day and everything was running fine the next day when you would go to take off it would barely move then all the sudden burst forward slammin you back in the seat.Today its horrible its like a bad roller coaster ride.It just keeps jerking back and forth.Thats a horrible discription it revs real high then jumps forward then revs again and jumps forward once it gets moving it goes away till you stop.Have takin everything apart and the clutch and variator seem fine.Could the belt be slipping!

How deep was the water in the creek?

It was about 8 to 10 inches deep.Thought it was deeper but went and checked today to see if I could find any clues to what happened to the buggy.Maybe alittle deeper in spots had a nice packed sand bottom and slimey mud sides. The kind that changes the color of whatever it touches.

Your belt could be slipping. Kind of hard to check for it, though.

I would recommend taking everything out of the CVT area and clean it up really good if any of the silt/mud got in there. Wipe down the pulleys, etc.

Also, take the variator off and inspect and make sure all the sliders are all aligned correctly.

Lastly, if the problem still persists (and it doesn't seem like the belt is slipping), change the pillow springs on the clutch to a higher tension and see if that helps.

I cleaned everything out.It wasnt very dirty,When I pulled the variator off the top plate(the one closest to the engine)was stuck. When I but it on it moved freely now its stuck. After an hour or so of pulling on it with my hands managed to get it off.I used the plate from the stock variator when reinstalled.I changed the pillow springs and it does the same thing.Tommarrow I will put the stock parts on and see if it still does it.Man this sux it was running so good people couldnt believe the stuff I could do in it.Now its a frog HaHa.

I have no Idea how I fixed it.I took it apart several times put stock parts on no change.Finaly I put the Dr. Pulley parts back on with the extra 2 washers the variator came with and it runs like a champ again well so far!Weird(erie music in the back ground)I have no Idea what happened but glad its fixed

Hmmmm...you need to take it apart very carefully, inspecting everything in the process. Sounds like something in that variator.
