You would have to wire them off the battery unless the engine has a generator. If not the lights will drain the battery. If you do go that route run the led lights for they pull very little power but you will have to recharge the battery often. If it does have a generator I would still run the led's since the generator probably does not have much output.

is the generator internal? Not sure if my engine has it or not.
I have been thinking of the battery idea though. Thanks.

I doubt an engine like that would have an outside generator, it should be underneath the flywheel. Also known as the stator. If it has one it should have one or two wires coming from underneath the flywheel to the outside of it. It should also have at least one wire on top of the flywheel that goes to the magneto, and it should be connected to your kill switch. I would say most of the time if the engine is not electric start it will not have a stator on it.

Thanks Zman. It only has the kill switch wire.
Looks like battery powered lights for me. Thanks again

Yep, zman beat me to it, but the robin/subaru 6.5 don't normally have any charging system on them, I have seen small alternators added, but then it gets complicated. A decent battery and some quality LED lights should set you up nicely, provided you have a way to recharge the battery.

Thanks! Unfortunately i didn't buy led lights. I bought small halogen lights and I am experimenting with a 12volt power wheels battery. It works just not sure of the lighting time. Maybe I will get the led's if battery drains to quickly.

I have a Robin 7hp on a Manco 607c kart, this cart came with lights and no batt. It needed a little work and my dogs decided to rid it of all wiring before I got to it. It has 2 wires running off the side of the motor closest to the seat back, 1 blue the other light blue. Does anyone know how to hook this back up ?

If this is not it go to http://209.62.29.198/productsupport.aspx?tid=3 and find yours. Good luck.

1st check with engine not running. check both wires with a voltmeter set on continuity, to see if one of them is a ground wire to engine. if one is that's cool. mark with tape or something. next with engine running, check to see if one of the wires is putting out 12 volts, and if so that would be your light hot wire. Be very careful of hot and moving parts when checking this way.

just go to the web and type in manco 670c kart. it brought up a wealth of info on this cart. gocartsrus.com is a manco dealer.

Just go to the American Sportworks site and download the manuals for it.

Back when I had my Manco Vortex, I added halogen headlights, mounted the battery to the frame, and mounted a switch to the steering wheel. Worked we'll but had to charge every once in a while.
