Ugh... So, we finally got snow in Clarksville TN last Saturday! We got about 5 inches! Of corse I had to pull the buggy out and drive it around. Driving it was a blast! Until, I was driving down a one mile stretch of road that had some slush on it and I started hearing sounds, bad sounds. At first, I just ignored it, but as I kept going, they got worse and worse. It got to the point to where home was in sight! but my engine was making extremely weird sounds, so I stopped and smoke was coming out of the CVT area. My granddad came out and towed me home. Just yesterday I took the tranny apart and what I was is in the attached pics. What you might not be able to tell is that the threads that hold the fan plate on are gone. I'm hoping and praying that ASW's warranty will cover the damages. I think they will because I haven't done any major modifications to the engine, like a big bore kit. My granddad doesn't think they will. My question here is actually two questions. #1. What on earth caused this? #2. Do you think ASW will cover the damages?

If I were you I would put it back to stock.I would not take out the main spring they will be to lazy to look for that. The uni, sparky and the rollers i would put back to stock then take it in and play dumb, like "i dont no" "really" "thats crazy could i have been
hurt" "should i be concerned" thing like that. That's a big reason why i did not buy a new asw because my plans were to mod it and they seemed pretty strick on there policies.Gook luck, hope thing work out for you.

Thanks, I'll take the variator off and such, but do they really care about the uni?

If you dont they will give you some line how the uni caused the damage. Its a pain, but it will save you a ton of cash.I think if those threads are bad they have to replace the crank. If i,m right you might what to pull the spring because they may just replace the motor.

Hahaha, that's very true about how they'll come up with some way to blame the uni, but thanks for the advice.

That is probably a product of the 10g sliders. It looks to me like it just ate your belt up. The belt is made to withstand the stress of the stock engagement points. When you put the lighter sliders in, it allows more RPM which in turn applies more stress on the belt.

Not likely going to cover that. Still sucks it happened on a fun day.

Which is why I'll but the stock variator back on and play dumb when they come over

I don't run them very often and I only replaced the ones that came with it, I didn't add two more. And thanks. I think I'm going to need it.

ive been watching craigslist and there is a lot of cheep bikes and quads you can get for around $500 that run good.keep in mind if the one you get has good parts you can sale the parts and have a free motor.
good luck
