Anyone know what the largest tires are that will fit the front of a spiderbox without modifications.

I think 19-20 inchers are about it unless you throw some spacers at it to clear the front frame corner.

scroll about 1/2 way down for pics from GX-150 with bigger tires.
Metal's spiderbox threads have a ton of great info in them, worth the time to read through. pretty sure the topic has been asked and answered several times now.

Thanks for the info. When I read thread it seemed to focus on upgradedo hubs.

That particular one, yes. however, click on a users name, in their profile select statistics, then pick "threads started by."

Metal did a couple different spiderbox builds, xlint, ckau, gx-150, soapkart, and other members also have spiderboxes that saw some mods. check thru their threads, I'm pretty sure you'll find someone that put upsized rims or tires on their fronts with stock setup. However, a stronger axle/hub isn't a bad idea either when going to a larger tire.

Where did you get the spindles from, I saw a pair at the Depot but didn't know if you could increase tire size.

Looks like you build them heavier than what the Depot sells.

After looking at xling89 spindles, I'm thinking of making my own set. My buddy runs a machine shop so it shouldn't be as difficult as it sounds.

Even better still is what Jersey Devil did I think. He welded on automotive hubs.

Heavy Duty and re-greasable bearings.

Ditto the above or trailer axles with 4x4 bolt pattern golf cart hubs (also regreasable). cheap, light and heavy duty. You can get 8, 10 or 12 inch rims. Lug adapters and brake rotors from jakes brakes to add front brakes.

Great, now I have to see his work. Every time I have a idea, someone shows me something better.
