I picked up a couple more Helix buggies last week and consistent with these machines, if you get one pay attention to the carb on it. Pretty much all of the ASW 150's need to be jetted right off the bat. These machines run lean from the factory. Pull your plug and make sure it is not white. I have found that a 128 or a 130 work rather well in them. I personally will use the 130 just to be on the safe side and the plug reading looks great. Eventually I will actually put the O2 sensor on it and find out exactly what it is doing.

One of these buggies had a flat out bad carb on it! Their machining was horrible on it in the air of the idle jet stream. I tried to jet around it but it just wasn't happening. I am pretty sure the port itself was too narrow. Oh well, at least I'll have some spare parts.

Are these new machines? I am surprised at the big jet sizes you are having to use. I use a 2.5 " unifilter, modified carb, ported head and custom exhaust. I flow approx. 30% more air than stock. I only need a 127 jet. That's why it seems strange to me. Seems like you sucking a lot of air from somewhere. For our altitude, here in central N.C., a 130 jet can be way too rich if the motors are basically stock. If the machines are used , you may have a crack in the rubber intake, allowing extra air in. The stock rubber intakes are notorious for developing hairline cracks that cause all sorts of weird tuning problems. While the motor is at idle, spray some carb cleaner around the intake. If the idle speed picks up, you got leaks.

The carbs that ASW uses just have a lean tendancy to them. Never seen any others like them. I actually hooked mine up to a wideband and tuned it and with a uni, and an FMF slip on, a cam, and a perf CDI it took a 150 main and had the prettiest plug you'll ever see.

Yeah, a 130 works nicely on mine but what's a O2 sensor?

that's curious, I never ran across that before. those carbs must have some very small idle circuits in them. What size pilot jet do they come with? I wonder if they were originally intended for a smaller cc motor and the Chinese just slapped them on the 150's? I know some of the 24mm off e-bay come set up this way.
