im looking at shocks that are 18'' long with 6'' of travel(my stock shocks have 2'')so when done i should have around 12'' travel in front.have not looked at the back good yet bet the least will be 6''.

roysheepdog 11-26-2009 10:12 PM

thanks that helps a lot

joshstep1 11-26-2009 10:16 PM

will the arms on the buggy even travel 6 inches? and how are you going to get 18 inch struts on it?

roysheepdog 11-26-2009 10:20 PM

i will make new arms and all that good stuff.the ones that are on it are to short.

joshstep1 11-26-2009 10:23 PM

okay

24evanwilson 11-26-2009 10:26 PM

id go with the shocks because you have the prior knowledge on them and you dont really have to mess with them

roysheepdog 11-26-2009 10:31 PM

i will move the arms to the front of the buggy like some of the other buggys.that will give a longer weel base some were around 80''(stock is 58'').i will move the rear shock mount at the top becouse it is not in the right place.the way thay have it is at to much of an angel to even work becouse it in a bind.

joshstep1 11-26-2009 10:48 PM

Oh, lol

BuggyMaster 11-26-2009 11:40 PM

here's the thing about the struts and such. It will probably take quite a bit of fabrication to make happen what you are looking for. Because of that, it may be worth it to just look into getting something that already comes with a long travel suspension such as the Kinroad 300 or something similar.

roysheepdog 11-27-2009 04:33 AM

shoot no way too much $.im a welder and pipe is cheep,it wont be hard to put something together.

cool could you tell when you put them on?how are the high speed bumps now?

BuggyMaster 11-28-2009 12:36 AM

Here's a picture of the long travel shock setup that kinroad uses. I bet you could buy the components for a reasonable price and fab them on.

One thing you have mentioned is what your goal is in all of this. What are you trying to accomplish. The answer to that should have some bearing on which way to go.

that kinroad looks good!what im shooting for long travel.the buggy is for me and my wife and were we ride you can go as fast as you can want or you can.the way it is now when im by my self at high speed its to bouncy and with both of us some time it hits the bump stops.i would like to go to the mx track down the road but the way it is now all i could do is ride around the track no jumping.all the vids.on youtube show them nose dive when jumped high.i think the longer wheel base will help that as well give a better ride at hi speed.i live in the woods and you can ride down the side of the hiway in the grass you can jump driveways and big dips top speed is up to you its a fun place to ride.i hope this helps

If you want to get real seriious, do a search on you tube for Drakart and look at the setups on those. Ultimate in bad to the bone but plan on having to kick out some dough.

Fox Racing makes a lot of shocks that would work fine for what you are doing too.
