My Christmas List... what to ask for?

Lately, my parents keep asking me where my Christmas list is? Truth be told, I really haven't even thought about it at all yet this year. With tomorrow being the first of December, and only twenty four days of shopping left, I thought, maybe I should give them a list if I plan on getting something other than the normal socks, t-shirt, and so on. So what to ask for? buggy parts of corse! So, I was looking at the three high performance clutches at ****. I saw the Dr. Pulley Hit clutch at 250 smacks, the Koso Delta racing clutch at 150 smacks, and the no-name GY6 racing clutch at $90. My question is, what makes the different clutches worth various amounts of $. What makes the Dr. Pulley Hit clutch worth $250? and the other ones at other amounts? Is there a big performance difference among them? If I get one of the high performance clutches, should I pair it up with a new clutch bell as well? Any help with this would be nice. Thanks.

BuggyMaster 11-30-2009 10:38 PM

I can't say that I have ever brought myself to spend the smackaroos for a perf clutch. Mike from **** should be chiming in here.

joshstep1 11-30-2009 10:41 PM

LOL, alright then... MIKE! (echo, echo, echo) Where are you?

BPNWMike 11-30-2009 11:40 PM

Ummm... I was watching a movie!

Depending on your budget.... LOL.

The $85 clutch is a step up from the stock clutch. It's got heavier clutch arms for pretty rapid engagement and bigger clutch pads than stock for more surface area when it's engaged with the bell. It's kind of "medium performance": nothing spectacular, but better than stock.

I'm actually in the process of phasing it out in favor of he Koso clutch. This is a really nice clutch. Solid construction and has a really cool tunable feature with these little weights that it comes with. It has all the tools and instructions in the box. The clutch pads extend almost the entire length of the clutch arms and look to be of a very good quality material. This is a very very good mid-high range clutch.

The Dr Pulley is a top of the line clutch that has all the benefits of the Koso clutch (good quality construction, large clutch pads running the length of the clutch arm made of high quality materials), but has an additional mechanism on the back of it that will rotate into place once the clutch arms are engaged with the bell. This mechanism LOCKS the clutch arms to the bell and means that as long as your RPMs are up the clutch bell will be engaged and no slippage.

You can really FEEL how securely the clutch is engaged especially when accelerating and climbing hills under load. All of this is tuneable on the Dr Pulley using the 10 sets of included springs. The Dr Pulley clutches we currently have are all designed specifically for buggies as opposed to the other ones which are made for scooters but can be used in the buggies.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the help Mike. You really made me want to ask for the Hit clutch, but I'm 98.47298% sure my parents are not going to drop $250 on a clutch. Maybe I should just rule the whole clutch thing out and look for something else.

roysheepdog 12-01-2009 12:02 PM

what about shock?

NJOHC 12-01-2009 03:16 PM

joshstep1 12-01-2009 03:28 PM

I think the big bore kits are $180... I think.

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 04:10 PM

joshstep1 12-01-2009 04:13 PM

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 04:16 PM

joshstep1 12-01-2009 04:19 PM

Dells are nice, a lot better than HP! I have a really bad story about HP.

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 04:21 PM

cani ask what the story is lloll

joshstep1 12-01-2009 04:22 PM

It's kinda long. I'll type it up later and post it here.

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 04:24 PM

gimmie just the main idea

joshstep1 12-01-2009 04:27 PM

OK. On one of our HP laptops, the video card fried. HP said they would fix it, but they didn't. I'll post a longer story later.

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 04:34 PM

huhuhu aHAHAHAHAHAHAH

joshstep1 12-01-2009 04:35 PM

NJOHC 12-01-2009 06:43 PM

Im hopefully getting a macbook.. My school uses macs and now its hard to go home to a PC lol

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 06:44 PM

how bout, i'd probly not laugh if i heard the whole story lol

joshstep1 12-01-2009 06:45 PM

My mom has a mac and my dad has a mac and macbook. I have played around on them, but I don't like them near as much as I do PCs. That's mainly just because I have grown up on PCs.

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 06:48 PM

yeah me too laptops get confusing

joshstep1 12-01-2009 06:51 PM

only macs

24evanwilson 12-01-2009 06:52 PM

yeah i could agree on that on what ive heard about them

NJOHC 12-01-2009 07:11 PM

lol they can take some getting used to! I like them for their video editing, music, and photo program. And the fact that they dont get viruses. But yea, If I was you I'd ask for a big bore kit and some 10g sliders. ( I forget if you have them already)

Actually, there are viruses for the mac. It's just that there are a lot more targeted towards PCs than macs.

joshstep1 12-01-2009 08:07 PM

And even more specifically than PCs, IE, internet explorer. On top of that, IE is slow, lots of viruses are targeted towards it (because it's the most used), and I don't like the way it's set up. That's why I only use Safari.

My big bore kits range from $99 to $125 depending on size. The bigger ones are a MAJOR project and not for the inexperienced modder to install as they require a lot of engine disassembly and rewoking.

That said, you can get lots of power if you do it right!

NJOHC 12-01-2009 08:24 PM

Nice to hear Mike! Its cool that such a big mod can be that affordable. Hopefully I'll be stroking out my subaru with the help of one of the guys that helped create their karting engine. And when I get my buggy hopefully I'll be buying that from you.

And Josh, My teacher told me wrong then lol... Im using Firefox... Nothing so far,but my computer is 7 years old. It's time for something with some better technology for me haha.

Yeah, they did.

BPNWMike 12-01-2009 08:28 PM

Technically yes, there are viruses exist that target the Mac OS. Exactly ZERO of them can infect you unless you intentionally install them.

The newer Mac OS's require you to enter an admin's password when installing any software that can affect the system. In other words, the virus has to ASK to be installed and you have to say Yes by entering the password.

If you're dumb enough to do that, then you deserve any viruses and their consequences you get :)

A trojan can't bypass that?

BPNWMike 12-01-2009 08:33 PM

how is the trojan going to get on the computer if you aren't downloading and installing something that you had to enter the password for?

As I said, "If you're dumb enough to do that, then you deserve any viruses and their consequences you get " Don't download and install ANYTHING you don't know or trust the source of... and your friends are NEVER a good source!

joshstep1 12-01-2009 08:36 PM

You can get trojans just by going to the wrong sites.

BPNWMike 12-01-2009 08:43 PM

Try it on a Mac and see how that .exe fails
