driver clutch??
upon acceleration a loud (similar to grinding sound, think it is belt slipping maybe) sound comes from driver clutch. I am thinking it might be those spring on the weights? because the weight moves a little, it is not the tightess grip.
Any suggestions guys? |
this is a comet 30 series torque convertor
|
okay so i measure fly wheels springs and they are correct at 7 7/8 inches, but the spring pack does move. it is not tight. This must be my problem huh?
|
I went ahead and ordered the flyweight springs. I spoke to a guy and he said more than likely that is the problem. I am glad I was able to help myself and you guys got to watch me work through it. LOL
|
Answering your own questions now huh? Nice to see you looking for answers VS. sitting back and waiting for someone to tell you what to do. That's how you learn.
And hopefully now someone else will learn from your research. Good luck. |
Working through your problems is the only way....
Parts should be here 1-3 days. Hopefully, resolves the issue. |
I hope it does. You've been very persistent and deserve a break.
|
Thanks. persistant pays off. I am trying to convince my wife to let me buy a helix 150. I found on CL guys says all it needs is a carb rebuild. I talked him down to 300. He live an hour and half away. Hopefully wife will let me get another project. LOl.
I plan on keeping my manco vortex. It did so well last week in the woods. getting some kawasaki mojave shocks for it in a day or two. |
I've found it best to just get what you want and let the mrs. just shake her head at me, but after 21yrs. together she knows I'm just one big -ss kid!!!
|
Haha, I normally do, but since mother's day is this weekend I will get her something and hope the deal is still there after that.
Would it be wrong to report his add as spam so they take it down?.... LOL |
I have been looking at this one for a few weeks. I wonder with bigger tires how this would do off road. Looks like street bike suspension.

I don't know what to do.... Replaced flyweights that helped with jerking. I tried cleaning driven again. I tried it without belt and it did not make noise. I bought new belt and it makes noise with that too. I am pulling mg hair out. What can it be?? Need help.... |
Also just pulled jack shaft apart and sprocket is ground down to the nubs. wonder why?
|
Momma needs a kart of her own, doesn't she? "his and HERS"
|
Watching the video looks like your chain isn't matching up with the driven clutch speed. Look for a stripped or slipped keyway.
|
Key way in driven is intact and appears okay.
Built in key on sprocket does have a 1mm gap and looks a little ground down. I think and hope after new sprocket all issues will be resolved. I think it will be best to get 9 tooth that will give me 4.44 ratio. 10 tooth gives me 4.0 |
Heck maybe even an 8t
I had 6.66 8t would give me 5. Still good for torque right? |
Okay the kart is back.......up and running.
The 40T drive sprocket does give it a little more torque and eases the work load of the 6.54 hp engine. Top speed is down from 30mph to 25. No biggie because that is fast enough in the trails. Thanks for the help gentleman. |
Good luck and enjoy the ride.
|
Thanks. It did have more torque on the trails it was noticable. A fun ride.
Now I nneed some new front tires from to much pavement riding :( LOL.\ I have the 6" rim single hole. I think I will look on a lawn tractor to find an 8 " front rim. I need bigger front tires with more tread so i actually stick to the trails. If it is not one thing it is another. Oh well at least it is not mechanical. |
Correction it is a 5/8 inch single holed rim

i cant open it. weird...
|
Evidently I am having technical difficulties lol
|
that is actually a little smaller than what is on there now. the tread looks nice.
I have 14.5-70-6 I think i want an 8 inch front |
i went to summit and put in part number :)
|
|
That works! Pretty grippy lookin tires, should work well in mud
|
They do have a 15x5-6 as well, I somehow missed them the first time. But there are bigger sizes available for the 8" wheels
|
Ya I am In the market for an 8" wheel
|
You can also check your local tractor supply or quality farm and fleet!
|
Bear, I did find an 8 inch rim with bearings at TSC. For $25 I probably get those one day.
