First problem with the Carbide!

Well my son was out on the Carbide today and it wouldn't go into forward gear. I never had a problem with it on my other AMS machines but on the carbide, the little plastic gear selector that the cables attach to at the engine gave up and cracked / broke. You can still manually put it in either by hand but what a drag. I have just shy of 300 miles. Looks like I'll be ordering parts!

i think your right some times my helix won't go into reverse!

funindamud 07-21-2009 10:40 PM

what model is the carbide? is it a 150?

BuggyMaster 07-21-2009 10:42 PM

Yes, the 150. AMS uses a different style reverse. It's not the typical external reverse thing you see on most of them.

24evanwilson 07-21-2009 10:43 PM

hmmm

BuggyMastersJr 07-22-2009 01:48 AM

that sucks

yea think how i feel i love my carbide and my reverse broke and plus we just got the performance parts a week ago and had to wait for them and now i got to wait for more.

24evanwilson 07-22-2009 10:53 AM

dang that sucks!

24evanwilson 07-23-2009 11:24 PM

ordering parts stinks . it really sucks when you dont have the warranty

BuggyMaster 07-23-2009 11:28 PM

It's not too bad. The parts are easy to get and I know these machines pretty well so working on them is just trivial in most cases.

BuggyMaster 07-23-2009 11:28 PM

I should also mention that the replacement gear for these is no longer plastic. They're metal! About time they did that.

24evanwilson 07-24-2009 09:54 PM

yea i might order one!

BigBoss 08-05-2009 09:12 PM

Yea that happens to me on my carbide but i have to turn it off and back on it works

BuggyMaster 08-06-2009 08:17 PM

You just gotta blip the throttle while changing from forward to reverse or other direction.

24evanwilson 08-06-2009 10:06 PM

im with big boss

BigBoss 08-07-2009 09:33 PM

what do u mean blip? explain

24evanwilson 08-07-2009 09:53 PM

its very ketchy ..does not want to move one bit ...but... when you shut it off you can put it in the foward gear

BuggyMaster 08-08-2009 12:16 AM

You gotta do short jabs with the throttle as you are putting it in gear.

24evanwilson 08-08-2009 12:58 PM

tried that ...nothing

BigBoss 08-09-2009 05:04 PM

same thing wit me

BuggyMaster 08-09-2009 11:34 PM

So you are saying that when you go to switch to forward or reverse it feels like it is binding? Is your idle too high? If your idle is too high, it is putting pressure on the physical gears which will keep them from being able to budge.

24evanwilson 08-10-2009 11:00 PM
