Kandi Spyder new to me

Hi everyone,
I just picked up a Kandi 150cc buggy. I believe it is a Spyder model. the motor was removed by PO to paint motor and they got the wiring messed up when re installing the motor. It is missing the smaller chain sprocket so I am not expecting it to move yet. I found two types of electrical diagrams here in the search but one is apparently for ac and the other is for dc. how do I know if mine is ac or dc?

The easiest way, ironic enough, is to look at the wiring. If the CDI is wired straight to the stator, then it is an AC fired system, if the stator wires go to the regulator first, then it is a DC fired system.

If the harness isn't too jacked up, it should be pretty easy to see the difference.

Oh, and welcome.

Welcome to the forum! I do believe it to be an ac model, but you can google kandi 150 buggy to check for sure, or just wait a minute for one of our more experienced brothers to chime in! :dunno:

OK thx. I'll see if the wiring is complete enough to see if it is ac or dc. Any suggestions on where to get parts from?

JERSEYDEVIL 03-12-2014 11:51 AM

Yota pretty much got it right. Most 150's are A.C. anyway.
I've worked on 3 different kandi spiders and they were A.C..
the difference between the 2 is AC wired motors will run w/out the battery where dc depends on the battery to power the CDI.

I got the parts I needed from kandi. Super fast shipping and my oreder was complete.

I need a picture of the configuration of wiring inside the "electric box". does anyone have a pic that they can post?

Thank you Yota and Jersey. I was able to confirm that it is ac system.

OK so I got it running today. it turns out that the starter relay is not functioning but I was able to jump across the two terminals and start it up. Now the problem I have is that it will not move forward or reverse. Is it possible that if the adjustment from the shifter is off that I would not move in either direction?

What exactly is it doing, that it will not move?
Does it shift into gear? Does it move at all when throttle is applied?

turbosammy 03-18-2014 10:15 AM

as far as the symptoms go it will start up and the shifter works in N,F,&R but no response when it throttle applied. I even reved it up probably to 3000 rpm with no response in any gear. The shift cable is connected to the shifter and the trans.
Yesterday I opened the belt housing and everything there looks fine the belt looks new and when the you gas it the cvt works, it also is engaging the clutch but with no response to gear shifting.
next thing is to remove the cover on the other side where the F & R gears are at, and see what is going on there. the PO had removed the motor and the shift cable was disconnected from the trans.
What should I be looking for in that housing?

Wow. I wonder if it is missing a gear or something that engages the shifter on the inside. I think this one is better answered by someone who has been inside the tranny end of it. Sorry. Keep investigating until someone chimes in.

that would be my guess "2SN" missing or stripped gears, just went thru this with my buddies carbide 150!

Thanks a lot for the info guys.
My boys opened up the tranny on Saturday and I found that the shift fork was installed upside down. It was not engaged with the shifter barrel thingy. I flipped it over and re-installed and now I am getting Forward and Revers. Now I need to figure out how the vac lines are supposed to be installed. the tube on the intake goes directly to the carb. Is there supposed to be a T there to go to the gas tank valve? I also noticed that there is a nipple on the head with a tube that has a T on it that doesn't go anywhere. Any pics of the VAC line routing?

It should come of the tank, then tee, with one going to the top side of the carb, and one going to the bottom side.
