57.4mm cylinder wont fit howit

So i started to rebuild a yerfdog spiderbox and first ordered a 58.5mm cylinder and it wouldnt fit so i ordered a 57.4mm cylinder and it wont fit?????

Will nothing fit these howits or do i just have an oddball?

The number on the case is LH157QMJ....I have 6 of these howit motors plus the one on my crossfire which has a 60mm cylinder in it and then a hammer head.

My crossfire case number is just 157QMJ and then the hammerhead is obviously not a howit..... So if these howits cant accept anything bigger than a 57mm then they are junk as far as im concerned :cussing:

where did you get the cylinders from, maybe it's a 2 bolt gy6 cylinder?
ive been running 58.5s for a couple of years in my yerf.

Its not the stud spacing its the sleeve wont go in the case bore

I'm with Jersey. Where did you get the cylinder from?

I had a NCY 58.5mm cyl on my Yerf (Howhit) with no problem.

Although, I am wondering what the LH in your engine code means? Pretty sure mine doesn't have that

A guy called gy6racingteam on ebay.....thats the seller i get 90% of my stuff from and never had any problems till this motor :/ this is a 4bolt valve cover motor btw....think ill pull one of the other howits apart and see if either cylinder will fit.

Check your engine code and see cause all the howits i have start with LH except one of the 3 crossfires i have and im begining to think its a hammerhead motor cause its code is just 157qmj plus it has the long output shaft for revers and it has the oil cooler ports on the case.

The original Howett motors don't have the LH prefix letters. Don't use the long output shaft and don't have the oil cooler provision. They do accept the 58mm jugs. Appears someone got some motor cases mixed up.

I just picked up another stock spiderbox lastnight and it also has the LH motor???

Did you figure this out???? I just got a yerf dog and ordered the piston and rings and didn't fit (57.4mm)...

No i ended up trying 8 different howits before i found one it would fit and dremeled the case on a couple of the others.
