gas overflowing through carburetor

When I turn the fuel on and try to start the buggy gas flows out through the upper part of the carburetor not the over flow valve on the bottom? What part in the carb would cause this? I'm thinking the float valve but I wanted to double check with you guys first.

I had this problem with my first Carbide a little over a year ago. I believe the fuel lines that run to the carb are mixed up.

Josh is correct.
I just went through this.

Swap the lines going into the carb.

the best thing to do is to replace the petcock with one that does not use vacuum you
get rid of one hose-then check your diaphragm for pinholes

Beefcake 10-22-2010 11:20 AM

I figured the petcock was part of the issue (flowing too much gas) but which petcock should I replace it with? Also what do you mean by getting rid of one hose?

olderthan 10-22-2010 12:31 PM

if you go to a manual petcock it only runs 1 hose to carb.the other hose [upper usualy]
goes to a tee and uses carb vacuum to operate old petcock you will get rid of it.

Sounds like the float is stuck - remove carb and clean.

BuggyMaster 12-20-2010 12:26 AM

jpman is correct as well. I think the crossfires have a manual on off valve from the factory don't they?
