Looking for Carter Talon DLX 150IIR Oil filter
Hey guys picked up a second buggy Carter Talon DLX 150 IIR, but cannot find a spin on oil filter for the oil cooler. All the ones I find are for Hammerhead and state in the information "will not fit Carter." I checked out some older threads but cannot find an up to date filter replacement. Are there any Talon owners out there that can help a fellow buggy crazed owner out? I appreciate any info.

10/4 on the second buggy ! The third is even better ..... Fourth ....
If you can't find on line , try your local NAPA . They usually have listings , cross reference , and listings by specifications . |
Thanks for getting back to me oldkid. My problem is I can't read what the number is on the filter and of course the manual I found online doesn't have any part numbers.
|
10/4 on that , that's why I was thinking of NAPA . Don't know about oil filters , but a lot of the time they have information grouped by specifications , dia. , length , thread size , seal dia. , etc. Wishful thinking on my part / you never know ... I just guess that it's not made just for that application specifically , but more than likely shares a more common application . Just speculating .
THAT'S HALF THE FUN/AGGREVATION OF THIS HOBBY ! :banghead: |
Nope I believe you could be right about Napa. I'll start there as that is a great idea which I never thought of. I'll let you know if you saved the day! Thanks again.

Sym
Also I think the gy6 150 used in the Carter Bros. was the SYM , made in Taiwan .

Sycarms
SYCARMS REPORT TO THE FRONT DESK PLEASE........ Have had a few Buggy's , none with external oil filter , just the screen under the big cap . Not seeing I wonder if this filter is part of an aux. oil cooler system and / or if so , could it be bypassed ? I don't have a remote filter , why should anybody else ? :dunno:
SYCARMS REPORT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM STAT ... |
It's a 2005 from the VIN and It is a regular GY6 but it has an oil cooler with a spin on oil filter that is bigger than what was used on the hammerhead and ASW models that were equipped with oil coolers. I was surprised as heck to see it on there. I would love to keep it on there. Sorry OLDKID I didn't mean to make you feel left out with no remote filter.

Problem solved! Previous owner found and dropped off the original owners manual. Turns out it does take the 6.000.218 Hammerhead oil filter. I can also use the HiFlo HF183 oil filter as well. Looks like I can keep my oil cooler. You guys rock! I appreciate all your suggestions. Thanks fellas.

Well new oil filter came in today.....not even close! I swear I have never seen one so small! Took oil cooler off to take to the auto parts store as it is car sized. Hopefully I can find one that fits. Damn the luck out $8.

Sorry about your mishap. At least it's only $8. I've been out a lot more when it comes to ordering parts for my GTR 300.

NAPA . :buttkick:

Yes Oldkid I'm headed to napa today!....lol
|
Never made it to Napa Oldkid. But I did find a K&N filter that fits at advance auto parts. So if anyone needs to know it's a KN-153. I will stop and cross reference at Napa tomorrow to see if they have a cheaper equivalent.
|
Excellent , Good Deal !
|
Thanks!
Thanks for posting the K&N oil filter, found this thread and made it easy to replace mine on an 05 Carter Talon DLX I recently bought
