What a difference! jets/cdi/coil

So did some upgrades this am. Replaced the gas cap on my tank (one I had wasn't venting), up-jetted my mikuni vm26-606 (#25 pilot/#205 main), and threw on this bad boy:

Holy smokes! It pulled hard to 40mph before I had to get off the gas because I ran out of straight road and things were about to get silly. I know it was probably just getting the jetting dialed in, but if anyone's on the the fence about one of the high output adjustable cdi/coil combos, I'd give this one a try. I didn't change the settings at all on it, and right now it's just secured with HD tie-wraps.

Nice! I need to check out that adjustable one, it might help me with the fine tuning issues I'm having now at such high elevation, that much more adjustability could make a difference..

did u notice a difference over the regular HO orange one?

gas cap and jetting i'll bet are giving you 80 percent of what you got.. optimized good spark is always a good thing too!

I did jetting at the same time, so it's hard to say, but it's never run that strong before..

I did the basic orange coil and was a doubter...then I hooked the stock coil to a spark tester and did the same to the orange coil. A huge visual difference in the spark output

Which orange coil are you running? The one I tried had to short of a plug wire for my Kandi, so it went on a Yerfdog.

maybe2fast 11-19-2015 08:26 PM

I had to reroute the coil in order for it to reach.

Ah, OK. Thanks

tkeagle 11-20-2015 08:54 AM

what #'s did you adjust it to? Did it come preset for a stock setting, or did you half to dial it in yourself.?

tkeagle 11-20-2015 09:39 AM

oh man. It's DC, not AC? is there a AC version?

wildbob 11-20-2015 09:56 AM

I didn't change the settings. The thing ripped like crazy as is, so I kept the settings the same as it shipped with. I look to what it's set at. I believe in a different post sycarms said these cdi/coil combo's spark is so hot they tend to burn out the iridium plugs, and eventually the pots on the dials will get loose so the settings drift. Personally, I'll just buy a new one, this thing had my buggy ripping. Granted, I addressed some venting and jetting issues too, so it;s hard to say what gave the most bang..

Do you have a link for this cdi/coil combo?

wildbob 11-21-2015 02:36 PM
