What the!

Ok, we where out riding last weekend, when "old blue" just shut down on the trail and wouldn't refire for nothing. I finally got the chance to check into it today, I've got good spark, good fuel supply, the valves and timing are right on, but I can't get it to fire! I have 2 of the same buggy's so I've already checked the CDI, coil, and even swapped out the carbs! and it still wont fire, even though all the parts I switched out work fine on the other buggy! If I put my hand over the carb to manually choke it, it will spit, sputter, and try to start for a second, so any ideas would be apprciated ! :crying:

just a thought check the compression sound like it is all you have left.

Masteryota 06-02-2013 07:29 PM

What ^ said, 4 things to fire, air, fuel, spark and squeeze, squeeze is the only thing left for you. Wish I had better news :(

hey master saw a guy on c/l today looking for toy info I started to point him to
you.

Masteryota 06-02-2013 07:33 PM

Oh boy! Info on toyotas, or just toys in general?

mb1134 06-03-2013 12:06 PM

Sounds like the piston. Mine was acting the same way and once i checked the compression, it was not good news. Sure hope yours isn't bad news.

Well the piston looks good, no holes or cracks, this is annoying it seems as if something is just a hair off of being right and I have disassembled and reassembled 3 times now!!!

Did you do a compression test before taking it apart?

zman007007 06-04-2013 06:52 PM

it was a toyota master

zman007007 06-04-2013 06:54 PM

keyway in flywheel?

toomanytoys2 06-08-2013 05:13 PM

When you had it apart, did you check to see if the valves were sealing? Loosen up the rocker arms so there is no tension on them then fill the ports with gas, paint thinner etc. See if any of the liquid seeps past the valves. I have seen a loose piece of carbon get under a valve and hold it slightly open. Of course a compression check can help verify this if the motor is together. Run a compression test. If it is low, squirt some oil in the spark plug hole and retest. If the compression goes up, you have a ring issue, if the compression stays the same, you have a valve issue.

All in again!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I've been occupied with other things for a bit, but I'm back at it now! I just decided to start all over again with both buggy's and disassembled the top ends of both last night, since they where both smoking anyway! I'll clean them up again, and put new rings & gaskets in them "again" lol and go from there! :ack: cant say I dont like messing with these engines though, there so simple! :drive:
