Going to be doing a lot of work to this one.

2SlickNick 08-27-2014 11:17 AM

When ever you replace the stock air filter, you can use that air scoop and connect it to your Cvt intake. It keeps it a bit cooler, just make sure you have a filter for it.
I used panty hoes over the scoop.

andrew1320 08-27-2014 11:56 AM

Cool! I'll definitely keep that in mind.

First things first, need to get rid of those crappy tires!

So I'm having issues with the regulator. When I put a multimeter on the battery, the voltages jump around. It never stays the same and jumps around from 18v to 12v. It's weird because it does this even with the regulator not plugged in. I even bought a new regulator but does the same thing. I am confused because my wires on the harness have different colors from the regulator and from the wires on the diagram.

And is this buggy supposed to use a resistor? I would think so but it doesn't show on the diagram. If anyone has pics of their carbide wiring that would be awesome.

liduno 09-23-2014 02:16 PM

It sounds like a bad ground.

I had a similar issue with the voltage jumping around on my hammerhead, at the same time I was having a starter issue.

I had a brush hanging up in the starter so while I had everything apart I went ahead and added an extra ground and positive wire from the battery. That cured the voltage issue.

andrew1320 09-28-2014 02:40 PM

Checked all my grounds and still does it.

here is a wiring diagram, I used to use for my ASW Helix

Thanks buddy.

Took it out. Feels really good. Only complaint is that initial take-off is a little sluggish compared to my yerf dog.

The weight difference is key, but the carbide, handles better, has reverse, has thicker frame, mud flaps, cushion seats, better seat belts. Have to weigh the benefits that the carbide gives you. If u want a little more juice I highly recommend a big valve ported head with a cam that will wake it up nicely. You cant beat the power gain that u will get with the head and cam espically since I believe you already upgraded your exhaust and intake correct me if im wrong, and port the manifold. If u want more take off power look somewhere in the a-12, a-13, or a-14 cam.

2SlickNick 10-07-2014 03:38 PM

Cam is where it is at!
A-12 is great, but a-13 might benefit you more since you have the larger rear wheels.
Great job so far On the carbide

andrew1320 10-10-2014 10:01 PM

Picture of the rear with the new exhaust.

I'm definitely going to look into the A-13 cam. Would this actually help on takeoff power? I'm also looking into porting the head. My brother recently ported his ls1 heads and said he would port the head for me. Any info on porting the head?

jmansracerocket 10-10-2014 10:13 PM

yes, porting the head will make a nice difference with a cam, but u might need stiffer valve springs, also port the intake manifold to match, it will def be woth it, the a-13 im sure will be nice for you since your looking for take off power. Its well worth the money

yea.. that's the difference in the trans gearing between the two. The yerf is quicker off the line, lower gear ratio but the carbide will reach higher top end speeds

Where would I find these stiffer valve springs?

Here's an example

jmansracerocket 10-30-2014 06:21 AM

These are taida valve springs which h is also a upgrade u can call them and ask them what rpm they r good for but I'm sure they will be fine for any cam Choice that u decide on.

Hey sorry for the late reply. It's a exhaust I got of ebay. Has to mess with the piping to fit. It sounds great too! I'll get a exhaust clip on here soon.

Stay tuned! Planning on getting a different cam and porting the head.

The cam and ported head r a nice upgrade combo

Thanks for the reply in the video is it with the exhaust or just a straight pipe (sounds sick), looking on Ebay for that exhaust.

andrew1320 12-31-2014 04:27 PM

Video is with the straight pipe. Just search 150cc exhaust on ebay and the first item is the one i have. It's like $70 shipped.

and during this cold weather, the buggy runs kind of weird. Sometimes when you give it throttle it will just kinda bog and backfire then take off. Top end seems kinda weak too (sometimes it backfires at WOT). Would I be running too rich or too lean? Currently using a 125 main jet with intake and exhaust.

x-bird 02-26-2015 09:58 AM

most likely lean. While doing carb tuning a cheap thermometer/barometer outdoor weather station is a good thing to have. record your temp and humidity with the changes you try so you always have a reference to fall back on.

You need to rejet for winter air.
