Stock American Sportworks Helix
Well, here it is. The first test.
Standing start: 39:35 Rolling start: 37:81 We also ran with the performance CDI. There was no difference. I will say though that the CDI does give you 2 mph on the very top end. I've done this to two machines and verified and both showed the same result. |
I took the helix out tonight and ran the piss out of it and knocked off about a second from these official times. Then my son (who has learned how to drive it harder over the last few days) came and knocked off me off by a few tenths. 36:53 for the rolling start and 38:51 on the standing start. The Carbide would probably have picked up some time too being driven as hard as the helix was tonight.

adjust the brake bias so you have more rear brake. it will make it turn in the corners alot better.
my wifes has alot of rear brake and when I run hare scrambles with it I set up for the turn then stab the brake one time cut the wheel and nail the gas, I usualy can drive it with the throttle. won one race and come in secound a couple of times. |
Helix machines only have back brakes!
|
ooops, I thought they has fronts also.
|
amazingly, the lack of front brakes has never been a problem with these machines.
|
they dont weigh as much as the others do they?
|
The are noticeable lighter in the front. It's that lighter weight and the smaller diameter tires that give it the edge.
