Bearing removal from CVT case?

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, once again it's been awhile. The Helix is running pretty well! Tore down the CVT yet again though due to a increasingly louder whining sound coming from inside the case. I don't think it's the internal trans, since the whine doesn't happen with the CVT case off. I'm thinking it's the bearing inside the cover that's going. We're having a heck of a time trying to get the thing out -- any ideas??

Also, take a look at the attached pic to find out what's left of our rollers. Whoa! I'm thinking that took away from our top end speed a bit...When I opened the case, I saw white plastic (or ceramic maybe?) shards all over the inside. Turns out the outside layer of the rollers essentially disintegrated. Good thing I've got some spares.

You probably need what is called a "blind bearing removal tool". I am not sure the size you need, but autozone carries a set in their tool loaner program. The tool expands tightly in the center of the bearing and threads to a slide hammer. You basically yank the bearing out from the center.

Thanks for the help! That tool worked like a charm, though it was a tight fit even for the smallest size they had available. Seems like I rid of the loud noise as well as gained some speed with functional rollers. Thanks again!

No problem. Thanks for the update. I'm happy to have helped.
