It depends on the design of the gears.when it comes to reverse. Reverse could strip out if the gear is desig ed with a curved angle.to much stress in reverse could cause cause it to strip.I've seen a few trucks trannys reverse gears stripped from this being stuck in mud trying to back out of it.just a thought.
