Default Helix 150 cc shift disk

I just got my Helix home on Friday, love it so far. When I bought it, the seller told me the reverse was not working because it needed a plastic part. I know nothing about these buggies, so I asked her what part it needed. She showed me the choke cover on the carb and said that was broken. I didn't want to be rude, so I just said "oh, ok" and loaded the buggy on my truck. Today, I checked it out, and the plastic shift disk (#14479) that connects to the shift lever on the engine is bad. I think the teeth are all worn down, and the disk no longer moves the shift shaft. Does anyone make a metal shift desk? I would think a plastic one will just continue to wear out rather quickly. Is the disk just a friction fit to the shaft? It looks like the new disk would just slip over the shaft, then the cables hold it tight. Is this how it works? If so, it looks like a 2 minute fix.

Does anyone have any tricks or tips?

Thanks!

EDIT: Just found the 14750 metal disk for $14. Does it just slip over the shaft then connect the cables? Is it that easy?
