Yes it does- you have to open the motor up to remove it properly and build/buy a throttle plate. There are You-Tube vid's on this. Again thru experience you won't get a whole lot more rpm's with it out. also you need to listen to the motor while operating for over reving/overheating constantly-I can only manage about 3750 rpm's with it removed, though those few rpm's do make a difference I can't let the kids drive them or they'll blow them up!!
