I got the FL 350 for a good price (so I thought) at $1800 WITH a trailer....

Well, it's 30 yrs old now, and needs a lot of attention. I'm prob closer to the $3k mark now.

So my advice to anyone reading this, if you find one (85 FL 350 Odyssey) for a good deal and it needs a little work, don't do it. Just pay a little more and buy one that's already restored.

The FL 400 is a nicer version over the 350. Liquid cooled engine and much better suspension. Prob why it costs quite a bit more.
if I where to buy one it would be the fl400 for those reasons that you stated. $1800 isn't bad with a trailer on top of that! Like you said though just depends on condition.
