for your experiment to work, you will need to drain your fuel tank after getting it started. this takes the carb and lines out of the equation. then add a measured amount of fuel into the tank, drive a set measured distance (something easily multiplied out to 5,280 feet), shut it off then drain the tank only and measure what's left to find what you used. at a set speed, it shouldn't change how much is used base on fuel level.
