Nahh, you've been fed a bunch of B.S from a badly mis-informed source. Parts for the howett are cheap and plentiful.They can be found on any scooter or buggy dealer site out there. As far a durability they hold up better than all the gy6's. The only time they fail is when someone neglects the maintenance and/or abuses the motor and thats true with any motor! If you think they are costly and timely to maintain, for example...check the difference between labor and parts to replace a piston in a gy6 verses a conventional motorcycle engine.
Sure.. you can swap out for a more horsepower motor but if you think you got mechanical issues now you ain't seen nothing yet
Tell us what kind of riding you do, terrain, frequency etc. we can help you get the most out of that motor without breaking your bank.
