As far as what kind of hoses to use, I got all of mine @ the local Auto Zone. Fuel / emissions hose has always worked good for me. I believe that item in question is for emissions, at least that's what my local buggy shop told me on mine and they recommended removing it and plugging everything off. So far so good. Mine also had some other emissions junk down in the lower / Left front corner of the rear swing arm. They aslo said to scrap all of that stuff as well.
