Question for TOM/SYC
I was wondering if this cylinder head would fit the 2-bolt carter engine i have (2007)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400313418022...witem=&vxp=mtr According to the details in the listing, it should, i've asked the seller for info on it but haven't heard anything back. Just trying to figure out if this is worth adding to the SYM engine, or if i'm better off taking the Sunl 4-bolt cover 150 i have and doing the big head or stroker conversion with it. I'm really impressed with the SYM engine so far. |

What exactly is the differences between the 2 bolt and 4 bolt valve covered engines? (please don't say 2 more bolts)
I read your post on another thread stating that the 2 bolt engine has low gearing, but top speed that we're all looking for. Thanks |

bolt spacing differences mean that heads/jugs from one won't swap to the other. All the hi-po parts out there are for the 4-bolt heads. 2-bolts are orphans as far as upgrades go. no upgrade heads, cams, springs etc. However, the SYM brand 2-bolt engines made to carter's specifications are said to be one of the best designed/built gy6 150s. It's a shame, as I think not only is it in the gearing, it's also in the head/valve/chamber design (this particular SYM has a 4-valve head).

Very nice.
Do you think the crankshafts are interchangeable? (meaning, can you stroke it?) |

no idea, i stopped pursuing doing any upgrades with this engine once tom let me know that what aftermarket parts supply that it had had at one time had pretty much vanished. right now i've got a spare crossfire engine for the baja that needs a piston/jug, the 150 from the sunl and this sym along with the 250 for the rockhound. basically i have a running "floater" can't decide whether to dump this one in the sunl, fist eh front end and sell it off and keep it's original engine to use the jug etc from to make a spare for the baja.

Well at least you got some options there!

I know crank bearings are a different size, but do not remember if it was only OD or ID too.
