SunL 150 Buggy GY6 RPM issue
i have a Sunl 150 bugyy it has a GY6 with some transmission upgrade, a uni air filter, upgraded carb, Better cylinder and piston, Better Cam and cam chain, thats just for the motor, on the frame it has nitro shocks all the way around, quad super swamper tires. 38T back sprocket and i believe 15T front.. pictures later, but anyways, how many RPMs should i be getting, my friend has a buggy and it gets right around 9000RPMS and im only getting 7000RPMS is this normal or is something wrong? also is there any manuals online for this buggy? and any other information about this buggy would be nice.... thanks in advance

Could be due to the aftermarket tires, being they are most likely heavier than stock.

Cdi?
check the cdi, you might need a "hotter" one with and adjustable rev limiter. Give Tom @ sycpowersports a call.

Welcome to the site.
1. Do you have the same buggy as your friend? (internal gearing may be different) 2. What size are you rear tires? 3. Does your CDI have a rev limiter? 4. Does it act as if it's hitting a rev limiter? 5. What upgraded carb did you buy? Did you re-jet it for your modifications? 6. What upgraded cam shaft did you install? 7. Did you replace or alter your exhaust in any way? 8. What size rollers or sliders did you install in the CVT? Are you sure they are installed correctly? We need as much SPECIFIC information you can give us to help you better. And to answer your Q, I THINK they are limited to 7000 RPM from the factory. Alot of us are seeing higher RPM because of modifications we've done to the buggy. And don't confuse RPM with peak performance either. You can alter your gearing to make the engine rev to 11,000 RPM, but it'll only top out at 30 MPH. It's all about setting it up for your liking. I like the idea of switching CDI with your buddy just to see. |
