so close and yet so far..
Well,
My buggy is put but together except for the exhaust.. New head's exhaust port is clocked differently so it looks like I'm going to have to cut the flange off my pipe and re-weld.

That sucks. Hope it works out. You should take a picture and that way others considering the 4 valves mught have an idea of problems and solutions.
My larger head caused my exhaust pipe to be several mm out alignment. I was able to persuade it on if you know what I mean.

Let us know how that 4v head is compared to the stock one. I will assume it will have great high rpm power over stock.

I will, waiting on my buddy with the welder (and experience) to help me out with the exhaust. I'll have to break it in, but, I'll post any gains..

So, I should be getting the exhaust back today, capping off my engine build. I removed the vacuum petcock from my gas tank installed a gravity feed, and capped off the vacuum nipple on the intake, filled up fluids, threw the battery in, and cranked the motor (with the gas off) to make sure there were no evil metal on metal noises, and all seems well so far. I've got the dash apart for a custom dash project that I'll document in a separate post, but it's looking like I'll be firing up the buggy today for the first time in months. As a mechanical newbie, I found the gy6 really easy to work on, and I don't have any fear of having to "split the cases" anymore.

Good.
I hope for you benefit you did do some timing and speed runs. I wish I did. I can feel more torque, but don't have numbers to compare.

Yeah, I don't have any hard numbers from before, just looking for a bit more grunt. I'm actually looking more forward to getting the suspension re-done that anything else, but I'm hoping that there is a definite seat of the pants increase in performance. For the most part the GY6 has been fine for what I do. I'm not competing with quads or dirt bikes, just blasting around on trails with some nice long stretches of unimproved roads.
