Default 6 Pole vs 8 pole Stator

Hi,

After seeing that installing an 11 pole stator may have issues finding the right rectifier for 11 and that it is said to rob horsepower, it seems the next be is to up to an 8 pole?

Is the rectifier the same for 8 as 6?

Do you need to get a flywheel for the 8 pole or is it the same as the 6?

Would love to hear your thoughts on going 8 pole instead of 11.

Charles

The flywheel for 6&8 pole are the same. The rectifier depends on how it was wired. Some used a 2 pigtail and some a single pigtail rectifier. My single seat buggy originally come with a 4 pole stater which I replaced and wired for an 11 pole stater. However with the introduction of LED lighting I will be going back to the original 4 pole stater. The larger the stater the more HP is robbed.

That is interesting about going down in poles.

I too am converting to led. Led light bar, led blinkers, led under body lights, converting headlights.

However, I am considering to put a winch on the buggy for that emergency pull. Also don't want to find with all my added lights that I am running weak.

Do you suggest in my case to stay 6pole or go with 8?
