Default Spiderbox motor

Here is a picture of the engine on my spiderbox. I paid $250 for the kart. Currently I haven't tried to start it yet. Should I GI ahead and just rebuild it or pickup another motor from BMI? It needs another swingarm so I was thinking it made cheaper to get the whole thing from bmi for $250.

You would be surprised how rough they look, but still run like champs. Pull the carb and clean it really well and flush the tank really well and see if it runs. Also, if you have a compression tester, that will tell you if the internals are ok. An oil change and new plug and it might surprise you. My Howitt looked the same, and it ran pretty good and is now on a BN members' cart with no issues.

I know I can get it to run. I need another swing arm though and I was thinking that to get one from BMI it is going to cost me $105 shipped. A complete engine cradle is only $250. I have a buddy that is going to pick it up for me. So for $150 more I can have another complete engine. I'm just not sure how good the used old stock engines are from BMI.
