Default Solenoid Clicks and nothing else.

my brother has a Phantom 150cc. The young kids took it in the mud.

Now when you turn the key, it just clicks. Even shorting out the solenoid does NOTHING.

We got it checked at the garage and they said no problem with solenoid.

Checked the ground, it's good

Could the start just have crapped out? How do you test the starter?

welcome Artic and hello to you too. lol the best way to check the starter is `hold a volt meter on the big post [where the battery cable hooks to it] and see if its getting 12 or a little over 12 volts,while someone turns the key like they are trying to crank it. if it is getting the voltage, the starter may be bad, if not you either have a bad connection , bad battery or a weak battery. sounds like its not getting enough fire to the solenoid check voltage in battery 1st.

None of the factory wire connectors are waterproof. you've got some water in a connector causing a resistance/ short problem. Seeing how this is effecting your starter circuit that's the first place to look. Start at the battery, follow the path all the way to the key switch and then back to the starter. Don't assume a connection is good though it may look so. Especially grounds. the factory connections are marginal at best. a little moisture at the contact point is enough to kill a circut

Make sure you have at least 12V at the battery, then follow positive wire from battery to solenoid and check for 12V. If 12V is present at the solenoid put your volt meter on other positive post supplying 12V to starter while turning ignition to start. If 12 volts are present this says the leads and solenoid are good. Pull the spark plug then try to crank engine if engine does not turn over pull starter and using a jump box or jumper leads run 12 volts to pos. terminal of starter and while holding starter connect a ground from starter housing to engine. If starter still does not spin your starter is bad, if it spins slowly it is weak, if it spins fast make sure you can turn engine over by hand. Also with starter removed using a finger try to spin small gear inside cavity in engine. It should spin freely in one direction and lock up in the opposite direction. This will tell you your starter clutch isn't locked. Sounds like your starter is bad though

It was the starter. We took it off and it was kinda seized. Turned it with vise grips and put it on a jump pack and off it went. We put it back on and it's working and sometimes not working, so we ordered a new one.
