Default Melted voltage regulator black wire

Getting the buggys ready for our first trip this fall and noticed the conector for the voltage regulator is melted. The black wire is melted on the regulator.
I replaced the regulator a couple of years ago for the same concern. But this time it is melted pretty bad. Going to cut and repair the wire with slip on female coverd conectors, and replace the voltage regulator with my new back up regulator.
Is this because of a bad ground or a faulty regulator?
One of the lights was burnt out for two trips, could this cause a over charging condition?
Has anyone else had melted voltage conector issiues on the the black wire?

Check for a loose or corroded ground wire. On a 250 I had the plug burned up. It turned out to be the regulator, but in most cases if you have a poor ground the wires will get hot and burn. Most cases like yours were due to bad grounds. The engine does not ground good o the chasis and should be grounded via ground wire. On the 150 this is usualy done at the CVT cover near the battery. Hope this helps.

I did check all the grounds and conectors and they are all good. I repaired the wires and replaced the regulator. Thanks for the input sycarms and all the support. After our trip I will give a report on how the 183.5cc motor ran.
