Talking She lives!!!!!

Well, I finally got to fire up my motor today after a complete teardown, BBK, and 4V head install. Fired up instantly..go figure maybe I can do something right. On the bad side, since the exhaust port of the head was clocked differently I decided to try to bend the pipe to get it to fit on.. Yeah, that was a waste of time. So, ended up cutting the flange off, marking the spots and re-welding. Worked great except now the "can" doesn't fit on because...any guesses? Yup, because I bent the pipe instead of biting the bullet and cutting the flange to start with.. Short cuts become long cuts, oh well, you live and learn and if worse come to worse, I've got a spare new HH performance pipe. loud as heck without the can, but i didn't hear any dreadful noises. She did stall after the auto choke turned off, but idle, jetting, etc will have to be adjusted and having no muffler on probably didn't help at all.

Congrats. We all knew you could do it. The rest is downhill from getting it to run, except maybe the jetting, that might take a couple adult beverages to work through.

And remember kids, remember to shut the carburetor drain valve before turning on the gas

Yeah, I let it idle for awhile to see if there were any oil leaks, or oil puking from the new head, but so far, so good. Gotta re-bend the exhaust pipe still, so I can get the can on, but she seems fine..

Got the exhaust sorted out and took her for a quick rip up and down the street. Definitely a seat of the pants improvement. Managed to tear the rubber coupler from the intake to the carb somehow, but a short piece of 1 1/4" radiator hose fixed that.
