Default Help needed with baja reaction 150

I just pick up a baja reaction 150 for my fiancee. I got it started and its pumping smoke and oil into the air box really bad. I tore the top end off and I'm having a really hard time telling if its the rings or the valves. The valves and combustion chamber are covered in soot and the exhaust port has oil residue, but the intake port is clean. The cylinder doesn't have any marks that I can catch a nail on. Can I take a feeler gauge and slide it between the rings and cylinder to check for wear? Can I put the spark plug in fill the chamber with gas to check the valves If anybody has any suggestions or any specifications on this motor, or know where to buy parts I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I'd take the carb off and clean it if there's any possibility that moving it around caused the engine's oil to flow into it. (when i clean my deck mowers, if i raise the front too high i flood the carb with oil). Maybe the previous owner rolled it etc. Same thing with the air box and breather hose, flush it clean, new filter, then restart it and see what happens. The intake passage may not show any evidence of oil even though it's getting in it--the fuel air/mix is pretty good at washing away any traces of it. If it's still smoking you can do a compression test or mic the cylinder with the piston down in the bore. i wouldn't risk squeezing a feeler in there.

Does your engine have the two bolt valve cover or the four bolt valve cover?
