Default spark plug washer removal?

so what trick do you guys use to remove the spark plug washer to install the temp sensor from your trail techs without messing up the spark plug?

My terminal ring was for a bike with the small plug so i went to a head bolt with it. a pair of diagonal cutters or tin snips should be able to cut the washer if you nip into the cut a tiny bit at a time
