What year is your Talon ? Is it AC or DC ? Basic wiring harness information is on the internet. Sometimes we get lucky and find one just like the one we have and other times we have to make one from scratch. I am in the later group and made one which does not look pretty but does run.

One more question...

What caused the wiring to melt in your buggy ?

Note: Need to rectify this problem before possibly recreating the same thing.

If you still have the original CDI, compare it to CDI online in AC and DC. There's a size difference. There's also a difference from the stator on wiring. How many wires and what color are they from the stator ?

I definitely feel the pain you most assuredly suffer. We'll try our best to get you through this.

Not sure, it sounds different from the one I have. Here is a link to identify which CDI unit you have...

It sounds like an AC system. The Black/Red wire I think is the one that provides AC power to the CDI. However, my head hurts when trying to figure out the rhyme and reason of Chinese wiring and color coding...

try posting a pic. the older talons (no luggage rack, one piece swingarm w/ no dogbone links) are AC. if it has a rack w/ the swingarm links it's 2nd gen. they might be DC. one way to tell is turn the ignition key and stick a test light in the bottom of the 2 wire plug on the CDI. in your current state not sure if that test will work.

If you have 2 wires going to the 2 pin side of the cdi it is an AC volt cdi. If only one wire It is DC volt. I believe it is the black/red wire that is not used on the DC volt cdi

If it uses 2 wires on the 2 pin plug, it is an AC volt CDI.
