Default Crossfire 150R - replacing the keyswitch - push button start

I decided to do away with the key switch on the Crossfire.
It wasn't working right and I like the simplicity of the Yerfdog 3206.

The Yerf has toggle switch to kill the CDI like the Crossfire, but it only has a push button to start.

After studying the wiring on the Yerf 3206 and the Crossfire, I believe I can make the following modifications to make it work:

1. Cut the green wire going from ignition switch to CDI #4 terminal and tie it in with the other ground wires at the engine end.
2. Connect black ground and green/yellow going to starter soleniod to momentary push button switch at the old ignition switch location to start.
3. Leave existing kill switch unchanged.

Without seeing your exact wire configuraton, but this being a typical set-up: If the #4 terminal is a ground then it needs to be verified it is tied into the same ground wire as the kill somewhere in the harness. Some soleniods don't always work by simply connecting the two activation wires together even though it should. The push button has to have a hot(12v) side- test one of the soleniod wires for continuous power. I've done this same type of replacement and had to eliminate the soleniod completely, since it's a momentary push button you're using it doesn't harm the starter unless you stay on the button too long(minutes-instead of seconds). I added a simple breaker from the auto parts for my daughter (4 yrs. at the time) just to eliminate a mishap, she ran out of gas once and it would almost start so she stayed on the button till the breaker over-heated and she had to wait several seconds for it click back on- she finally came complaining her kart wouldn't start after trying for several minutes!! the $5. 15amp breaker paid for it'self!!!

Wow! She's persistent.
It seems to work fine. New battery, push button switch.
