Default Dr Pulley and New belt?

I didn't think about this until i read another post on a different forum. When i changed my variator over to the Dr Pulley, i had a hell of a time getting that belt back on before i put the face and nut back on. Am i supposed to go with a longer belt, or keep the stock belt? Havent seen any sort of decrease in top end or anything, but the tightness just made me wonder if it wasnormal.

stock belt as far as i know.

method i like to use for install is to leave the variator fan pulley off, spread the clutch sheaves out and push the belt in between them as deep as i can. The clutch then pinches tight on the belt and leaves enough extra length to put the variator fan pulley on without having to force the belt out of the way as you tighten.

The way i do it is put the belt around the clutch pulley then to the variator shaft, with a flat head screw driver i put it between the belt and shaft while holding the variator tight so rollers dont move out of place i turn the variator and sctew driver at same time till belt slides on to shaft.. the screw driver will help slip the belt on to shaft as you turn it...Eddie.
