Helix 150cc GY6 engine to HF 212cc Predator engine?

I am thinking of buying a Helix 150cc buggy
that does not run and needs some work. The
person said I can have it "REAL CHEAP" but I
think the motor may ne bad. It is missing
some engine parts but I do not know what.

My question is: would a HF 212cc motor and
TAV2 unit work on this buggy? I have a
brand new FULLY worked motor and all new
TAV2 unit and many other new parts here
and I would like to use this stuff if possible
to save $.

In theory, yes it would work, but, unless you worked that predator over for higher RPM's, it won't have the same power the 150 put out. The GY6 revs well over the 3600 the stock predator will do. I still have the 150 howhitt off my yerf and might want to part ways with it, depending on where you are.

I am in Pine Grove Pa 17963. My motor is worked to go to about 8k rpm. About the only thing left "stock" on it is the case and covers LOL.

Manco builds tough engines. From the photos, the battery and muffler are missing. I see the ground wire to the engine is disconnected as well as the black cover over the CVT. Check to see if the starter is present.

If I were you, I would 1) check the oil to see its condition and how much oil is in the engine, 2) try to turn over the engine by hand using the driving CVT pulley, 3) check the wiring in the electrical box for presence and condition. If the wiring is intact and in good condition, I would remove the spark plug, use jumper cables from a car battery (without the car engine running), and turn over the engine.

If the oil is good and the engine turns over either by hand and/or starter, I would offer $50 to $100 for the buggy in its condition. You will have to disassemble the kart to repaint it, rebuild the seats, probably replace the seat belts, and get the engine running. I believe you could get the cart running and restore it for about
$200-250 plus price of the cart if the oil is good and the engine turns over. I think this kart developed a no run problem and was left out in the elements where most of the damage has occurred. How much does the owner want? Scrap value is about $40 for a 400# kart, so start from there.

That motor appears to be the "m" series with the internal reverse. Chances are it's a 200 cc. Originally used in the ATV machines but some found their way installed in buggies. If so it's worth rebuilding.
It may also have the center case tapped for the external oil cooler. which is a plus.
Check for the motor serial/identifier, letters/numbers on the driver's side lower case
They should be stamped on the side above the oil drain.
Post all you see and let's find out what you got.

How can it be a 200cc if it says 150cc on it? I am pretty sure the person had it since new and it stopped running so he forgot about it and left it for dead and got another one. Lol

hmm ... my posts seem to be disappearing, or i commented on another dead cart thread. my concern before the engine/wiring would be to inspect the lower frame rails and make sure they're not rotted through where they meet the floorpan. been there, done that.

Nope. I saw your post about the floor pan. There are 2 very similar threads started about the same buggy, I think its over there.
