Default Speedometer Stopped Working Properly

My speedometer on my carbide is going all funny and jumping from like 2-40 back to 4 and so on.

Ya you need to trace back the speedo circuit. On my GTR there is a magnet embedded in the axle and then a pickup that sits right above it. There isn't much clearance in there. If you got any junk (read mud, dirt etc) between them, the pickup may not be able to ready the magnet.

Now my speedometer just decided to quit and doesn't show anything besides the backlight.

Did you ever look where the pickup is to see what kind of shape it is in or if it is even still there?

theres no cuts in the wiring it looks fine and even if the speedometer isn't very accurate it should still be displaying something it does not make sense.
