i don't know of anything else to check other than your plug. if the stator, cdi and coil are good....?
did they check them on or off the buggy?

i know what you mean. before i bought my hammerhead, i called every bike shop in town to find out who would work on it......nobody would touch it. why, i don't know. the basic concept is the same. i just think they get erogant. i may take some time but start from square one and trace your wiring to make sure the grounds are good and look for any broken wires. i don't understand why you wouldn't have spark if the stator, cdi and coil are o.k.....unless the plug is junk?????

welcome to the group
if you look on buggydepot.com
they have trouble shooting sections
for cdi & stator
also if you have your service manual
their will be a section also
buggydepot's is easier for me to
understand

I would be curious as to how they tested everything. Most of these shops would not have specs on any of this stuff.

Are all of the parts stock on it best you can tell? Also, how old of a machine is it?

i think its a 2007 atleast thats what i see on the epa sticker and as far as i know its stock i was looking online at baja's web site trying to find some info on it and it said i needed to hold the brake in while trying to start but i see no wires leading to the brake system as a safety switch but now i starting to wonder if its the engine kill switch that might be bad it looks like a light switch once the weather clears i'll check that out thanks for all the help guys john

I frist would change the plug.2)follow the plug wire back to the coil, find the two wires that connect to the rear of the coil and follow them back and check for loose or broken wires, also clean the2 wire connection on the coil.3)Do you have a on/off/kill switch check the connection.4)Check to see if the guy you bought it from put a toggle switch somewhere in-line on the positive batt. wire.5)Check the electrical box for broken/disconnected wires.Hope this helps.

if you decide to start purchasing new components for the electrical system i'll give you my 2 cents worth. when i replaced all mine (cdi, coil, plug, etc.) i bought an "aftermarket CDI which looked the same as mine. i screwed around with it for a week because it would not run right or shut of by the kill switch. i found out that the OEM CDI is different somehow. i guess my point is.....not all parts are created equal and you get what you pay for. the aftermarket cdi was half the price but double the trouble. i personally stay with oem electrical parts if i can. the non-electrical aftermarket parts are no problem but i'm no wizzard when it comes to figuring out the electrical stuff so i buy genuine to save me headaches....

I agree on the OEM for electrical. The thing is about the CDI is there are two different ones. One is an AC based CDI and some (like the american sportworks machines) use an DC based CDI. The stator is on the right side of the engine if you are standing behind it. There is a pack of wires that come off of the stator. There is a group of three that are typically yellow and then there are 1 or 2 single wires that come out of there as well. One of those will be going to the CDI box if it is AC based. If you can post a picture of the wires that go into the CDI connection, we may be able to tell from that.

The ones that have the brake switch that you are tallking about will have two wires that go to the master cylinder. Those wires go to a pressure switch. Those types won't even let it turn over if the brake is not pushed down. If you are getting it to turn over to where you can check the spark, I doubt that is your problem.

it will turn over with or with out the brake pressed in so im thinking it doesnt have the brake switch thats why im thinking the kill switch could be the problem i would have thought the avt shop would have check the kill switch but they didnt say and until yesterday i didnt know it was a kill switch i thought it was a headlight switch i found the owners manual on the baja site i havent had time to really look at it to check the wires like you are talking about i just got it back from the shop yesterday and then it started snow so once the weather clears out im going to get elbow deep in it so see if i can get it running thanks for the help guys

Do I see a problem for making more speed? You have a motor that only runs @ 3600 rpm safely. You need a bigger pulley on the motor in theory- but the bigger the pulley on the motor the slower the engine output is for the clutch to engage.

bigger pullley for the motor should mean faster at the clutch using less rpms was the way it was i was told and by the way the gy6 that i cut was usless the case was busted and the cvt was the only useable part my gy6 is safely tucked away

Ingenius that you took a trashed case and utilized the clutch portion for this mod.
What end of NC do you live?
