Default helix 150 spark issue, please help

I am working on a helix 150 that will only run with the starter engaged.
As soon as key is released from start to run spark stops.
but here is the strange part, it will run with key in run position if I am
engaging starter manually by jumping main terminals on starter relay.
as soon as i stop jumping it stops running (sparking).
thus only runs with actual starter engagement.

any thoughts?

Bad key switch. It is back feeding the ignition power from the starter solenoid when engaged.

Either one could be the culprit but usually the cdi is what normally goes. You also have to check the coil and the ignition switch. Check that your getting power to the cdi, if not then check the ign switch and also make sure the kill switch is not made.
