carter 150cc running probs. help!!!!

i have a 150cc carter i used use on the daily basis's and it ran perfect i had built a snorkel and it still ran prefect. then i stopped using it for two years and i had dump the gas, then i deiced i wanted to use it again so i broke it out and cleaned the carb, changed the oil, filled the tires and lubed it. i put gas in it starts turns off. starts turns off, the i had punched the gas to get a higher idle and it runs take it for a spin it goes but doesn't take off. and i had modded the snorkel straight the the carb. also i tried tunning it some one told me to get a new carb. and what can i do to performance it?
