Default New Guy Helix 150cc Shifting Problems

Hey, this is my first thread i recently aquried a helix 150cc. The buggy has been sitting for at least a year. I replaced the spark plug, fuel filter, and battery. Well i got it running, the air filter was clean. The buggy ildes fine, but bogs down under load. (im cleaning the carb and jets sunday) I added gear oil because it was low. Im waiting to change both the oil and gear oil untill i figure out whats wrong just incase i have to pull the transmission apart.

Okay so hears whats going on:
When i first got it running it was already in drive. I tried to put it in neutral but i guess it would not go in, the shifter was in the neutral possition but didnt actualy go into neutral. I moved the shifter back and forth a little bit and it finally went into neutral. The same thing happend for reverse. Now when i noticed this i read through the manual and then addjusted the shifter plate according. when i had the cables loose i rotated the plate back and forth and checked which gear it was in by tapping the gas petal with the engine on, well it stayed in forward the whole time while rotating the plate. I dont think the plate is bad, it didnt appear to be cracked or stripped. It is the plastic plate, could that be the problem or maybe something else?

Anyone have any insight?

Thank you

Make sure when moving the plate the shaft moves as well.

alright ill get the metal plate, i dont think the idle is the problem i had the engine off each time i would shift it then turned it back on to test. But i will do it again. (i thought that might have been the problem) Ill check the plate closer when i clean the carb on sunday. Where can i find one of those metal plates? any idea on the cost? Also how many forward gears to these transmissions have? j/w Thank you for your quick response!

We've seen that plastic plate crack a few times.

Your jets are likely clogged and you probably figured that out by now.

It is poor design and in fact, when you order a replacement from American Sportworks, they don't sell the plastic one anymore. They figured it out eventually. Glad to hear you are running right now.
